Since ages, perfumes are like a sort of weakness for both men and women. Perfumes are the mixture of fragrant essential oils and aroma compounds, fixatives, and solvents Perfumes are used by us for its pleasant scents which give us confidence and a feel good factor, as we all realize that smelling bad is the greatest turn off. Not only for human, there are perfumes and fragrances for homes, cars and animals. The aromatic compounds used in perfumes can be plant and animal origin. The most widely explored plant sources of these aromatic compounds are Bark; Flowers and blossoms; Fruits; Resins; Roots, rhizomes, bulb and Wood. Animal originated aromatic sources are Ambergris; Civet; Castoreum; Hyraceum; Honeycomb; Deer musk etc.

These varieties of fragrances are categorized into different families of fragrances, such as:

Citrus Family: The perfumes and fragrances belonging to this family are formulated of the oils extracted from the peels of ripe fruits, they are extracted by pressing or steam distillation. These perfumes are the most volatile hence get easily evaporates. Their aroma is very fresh and refreshing just like that of citrus fruits like orange, lemon etc.

Fruits Family: Fruity fragranced perfumes are formulated of tree fruits and vine fruits. Not all fruits are used in perfume making but there are certain fruits whose aromas are hard to resist. The most widely used fruits in aroma making are Golden Mango, Honey Almond, Mulberries, Apple Cider, Cherry Berry: Wild cherry and blueberry blend.

Floral Family: Perhaps, this category offers the most favored range of perfumes. This family has wide variety as different types of flowers from the different corners of the world are used in perfume making. The extracted oil from flowers is less volatile and evaporates more slowly than citrus oils. In floral perfumes, usually different floral oils are blended together to have a better scenting perfume.

Herbs & Spices Family: Perfumes made of herbs and spices are steam distilled from leaves, roots, barks, seeds, and flowering tops of trees and herbal plants. These perfumes usually have very strong smell and they evaporating slowly and last for longer time. The perfumes of this family are available in the fragrances of Cinnamon Spice, English Spice, Mint Leaf, Orange Spice etc.

Woods Family: These perfumes are formulated of the oil extracted from various parts of trees, including roots needles, and the wood itself. Woodsy perfumes are available with a variety of smells, they wide ranging can be sweet, bitter, green, or earthy. They are slowest in evaporating; hence last for longest time. Wood oils are usually blend with floral and spices oil to create different. unique fragrances. Scottish Pine, Vanilla Bean, Winter Woods, Woodlands, Woody Floral etc are the most wanted woodsy fragrances.

When there are so many options to choose upon, one should be very smart in choosing the best perfume for himself/herself. In shopping for a perfume, you always have the liberty to first check the smell then make a choice, so in any case you will buy that perfume only which fragrance you would like the most. Yet, before buying a perfume, one should always keep in mind the parameters of age, sex, time and weather. Sex in terms of who is going to put that perfume. Men and women perfumes are different and any one who has bit knowledge about fragrances can immediately make out whether a perfume is male or female perfume. So before buying a perfume check the sex and age categorization. Moreover, one should also keep the account of time also, for the perfumes that can be put in the day time are not that apt for evening. Your nose will lose its ability to tell the difference. Always keep the perfume bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct light, preferably in its box.
